Most of us don’t recall the details, so here’s the short form.

As legend has it, the big guy could do just about anything he wanted. He would walk through the countryside bragging that he could beat anyone that stood in his way. And . . . when he was in a particularly nasty frame of mind, he’d confront the un-prepared and, needless to say, there was always a very unhappy ending.

Unfortunately, most folks of that day were ordinary folks, not trained warriors. They worked the fields, raised animals and tended their flocks, just trying to give their families the simple necessities of life.

Apparently, there were not many struggles in Goliath’s life. He was so large, iintimidating and in your face that he just took what he wanted, wherever and whenever he wanted. And, when and if someone resisted . . . well, you can guess what happened !

A youngster in the countryside by the name of David felt Goliath should be stopped. The giant should have to answer to someone. We are sure you don’t have to guess who that someone was . . . it was David.

So, as the story goes, David set out one nice warm summer morning down the road of life to find Goliath.

Goliath knew only one way, a fight to the end. David, armed with only a slingshot and five smooth stones sought out Goliath. Well . . . by now we know you remember the ending.

David took a stone . . . placed it in his slingshot . . . hit Goliath in the forehead . . . Goliath fell to the ground . . . David took Goliath’s sword and killed him . . . END OF STORY!

One more big . . . intimidating. . . brash . . .obnoxious . . . unsympathetic . . . nasty ...heartless BIG guy out of the way. You can probably add a few adjectives yourself. . . Give it a try !
